Getting to Daegu:

From Incheon Airport in Seoul to Dong-Daegu

By Air

From Incheon Airport in Seoul, you can fly directly to Daegu, but the flights are infrequent, so this is usually inconvenient. The schedules are of course subject to change, but they have been approximately this for quite a while.

By Train

With the completion of the airport express train (AREX) between Incheon and Seoul train Station, there is the clear choice for connecting to Daegu: take the AREX to Seoul Station, and then the KTX (the high speed rail) to Dong-Daegu (lit. East Daegu).

The AREX takes 53 minutes (regular) or 43 minutes (express). The prices are (approximately) 3900 won (+500 deposit) and 9000 won respectively. If you buy both together before hand, or at the airport, there is a discount which makes the prices almost the same.

The KTX from Seoul (서울) Station to Dong-Daegu (동대구) station takes appoximately 1 hour and 50 minutes. It costs about 45,000 won for an economy seat and about 75,000 for a first class seat. There are slower trains from Seoul Station that are cheaper- as cheap as 20,000 won but taking 4 and a half hours. If you take these, be careful where you get off. There is also a Daegu station, which the KTX doesn’t stop at, and is slightly less convenient to the university.

By Bus

You can get a highway bus from Incheon to Daegu. It takes about 4 hours and 30 minutes and costs around 39,000 won. You can buy a ticket at the ticket counter near the gate.

Getting to KNU from Dongdaegu Station

By Taxi

A taxi costs about 4000-7000 won. You should tell them to go to either KNU north gate: 경북대학교 북문, pronounced kyong-buk day-hak-kyo bung-mun, (or) KNU main gate:경북대학교 정문 pronounced kyong-buk day-hak-kyo jong-mun. Taxis in Daegu usually don’t take credit cards, so have money with you. Your Seoul transit cards or T-Money cards won’t work.

By Bus

Take the bus #937 from in front of Dong-Daegu Station to KNU main gate:경북대학교 정문 pronounced kyong-buk day-hak-kyo jong-mun. You then have a 5 minute walk (use this KNU map for reference). A bus costs 1250 won. You should have correct change. They will give change for 2000 won, but you could have trouble with 10000 won.
